The CAVE: an immersive 3D reading room displaying all 25 versions of Subcutanean simultaneously on the walls and ceiling of a virtual cube. Requires mouse and keyboard interaction.
The CAVE
CAVE stands for Cave Automatic Virtual Environment, a term coined in 1992 for room-sized immersive visualization systems where projectors display images on the walls, floor, and ceiling around the viewer.
The Subcutanean CAVE reimagines this concept for literary exploration. You are standing inside a cube whose surfaces are covered with the text of Subcutanean—25 unique seeds at once.
Layout
Each of the four walls and the ceiling displays 5 seeds in newspaper-style columns, for a total of 25 simultaneous versions. The floor displays project information.
Front wall: Seeds 60001–60005
Right wall: Seeds 60006–60010
Back wall: Seeds 60011–60015
Left wall: Seeds 60016–60020
Ceiling: Seeds 60021–60025

About Subcutanean
Every copy of Subcutanean is unique, generated from Aaron Reed's Quant markup language. Words, sentences, and entire scenes vary between printings. The CAVE lets you experience the full breadth of this variation simultaneously, surrounding yourself with parallel versions of the same story.
